Hot for 2024.
Grey:
Grey is still very much in. Here at LKL we still sell Grey as the front runner for laminate and carpets. We find that ALOT of the carpet sampling books that have come into us have the top colours as Grey in all their variations, and not many other colours. Obviously, there are the neutrals, but not many other colours, such as the primary, green, blue or pink colours.
We are seeing people recreate their homes such as Mrs. Hinch (please see pic below) clean crisp and clutter free.

Glitz:
We are also seeing a rise in glitzy carpets. This is usually a carpet that has a fleck of shimmering strands in that make the carpet looks like it’s got glitter in it. Beautiful carpets from the Invictus range, showcase this. As you can see below. These are a real big hitter at the moment as people are looking for a bit of luxury.
I’d say these carpets are perfect for bedrooms and low traffic areas, but maybe not so much for stairs or high traffic areas as they are a thicker pile and a soft pile all at once, meaning they will flatten easier.

Thick Carpets:
We are seeing a big upturn in thick Saxony carpets that are plain and a softer pile. Previous years carpets that have tended to sell where of the shorter pile and always with a fleck in or a dual colour. But this year, the plain colours are making a return. Beautiful for seeing those hoover lines.

Laminate:
As I mentioned grey laminate is still the no.1 seller here at LKL, this is in a plank design, however there are a few more people enquiring over the laminates that have a pattern or design on them. So that’s an interesting change.
Laminate Carpet Stair Combo:
This is the second year we have seen the carpet and laminate stair combo be popular. This is laminate on the riser of the stair and then carpet on the tread. These were popular in the year end of 2023, and the trend is gaining momentum through the start of this year.

Laminate on Stairs:
A new runner for us is the stairs in laminate. Thanks to Quickstep and their stair nosing’s and matching accessories, you can choose one of their click floorings and have it installed on your stairs. Perfect for busy households and brilliant if you have the same laminate in the hall or other areas of your house. Really brings all the areas together for a more luxurious look.

Patterned Vinyl:
Vinyl that has a tile effect pattern is still big this year. They did tend to be used in bathrooms over previous years, but we have seen an increase for them to be fit in kitchens and hallways. This Baroque pattern is always a winner, it hides a multitude of sins as it is a ‘busy’ pattern, but it looks at home in larger or smaller areas.

LVT:
LVT is becoming more popular, with the rise of newbuilds and their use of LVT in show homes, we are finding that more and more people are enquiring about it and ultimately getting it installed in their homes. Still in grey colours in a plank design, but we are seeing a turn to neutral and darker colours in the herringbone and chevron designs.
